Course Code and Title: RIISS00034 Standard 11 Mine Induction – Upgrade from Generic Induction

Award Issued: Upon successful completion of this course the participant will receive:
A statement of Attainment listing the 6 competencies attained will be issued following successful completion of the course. A wallet size photo ID card listing competencies and date of expiry (by mail shortly after completion of course.)

Pre-Requisites: A copy of current GI card, or GI card expired within 3 months of proposed date of courses. A statement of attainment detailing units covered in previous GI (apply Initial Response First Aid and Conduct Local Risk Control

Recertification: 5 yearly

Duration: 8 Hours

Application Process: The previous qualification known as Generic Induction has been superseded by the Standard 11 competencies. If a coal mine worker has a current GI Card, or a GI Card which has expired within the past 3 months then they are eligible to complete a 1 day upgrade course.

Course Description: This RPL course is for existing mine workers to upgradew their Generic Induction to achieve the current requirements of Standard 11 – Surface Operations.
It includes 6 resource industry units of competency combined with a workplace familiarisation and assessment that enables participants to commence work in the mining industry and in particular the Queensland Coal Mining Industry.

Objectives: To perform first aid in a safe, correct and efficient manner in any situation.

Course Content: A combination of case studies and course work to provide evidence that competency is attained

Assessment: Assessment will be performed progressively throughout the course using demonstrations of practical skills, scenario’s and short answer theory questions.
